Our champion rankings are calculated using the following formula:
$$ \text{Score} = (\text{Win Rate} - 50) \times \sqrt{\text{Pick Rate}} + 50 $$
- Win Rate: A 50% win rate is considered average.
- Adjustment: Any win rate above or below 50% is scaled by the square root of the champion’s pick rate. This means that champions played more frequently (with higher pick rates) have their win rates weighted more heavily.
- Purpose: This method helps balance performance (win rate) with reliability (sample size), so that a champion with a high win rate from a very small sample doesn’t get overrated compared to a champion with a slightly above-average win rate that’s played much more often.
Please note that while this formula provides a balanced view of champion performance, it is a heuristic and may not capture every nuance of gameplay.
Tier Explanation
Our tier list is based on each champion's combined score, which factors in both win rate and pick rate. We rank champions using percentiles:
- S-Tier: Champions in the top 5% (95th percentile and above).
- A-Tier: Champions between the 75th and 95th percentiles.
- B-Tier: Champions between the 55th and 75th percentiles.
- C-Tier: Champions between the 35th and 55th percentiles.
- D-Tier: Champions between the 15th and 35th percentiles.
- F-Tier: Champions in the bottom 15%.
This method ensures that a 50% win rate is average, and champions with above-average performance and a robust sample size are rewarded, while those with lower performance or less data are appropriately ranked.
